Toner WIP

The Toner Aerial Infantry Transport is a multi-use gunship used by the Imperial and Cave-Grove forces during the Second Psychic war. It is an advanced aircraft, using relatively recently pioneered antigravity systems to sustain flight. The vehicle is crewed by three and can carry twelve additional soldiers in light power armor, or up to five tons of cargo internally or suspended underneath. Toners were deployed from orbit into combat by larger carrier vehicles, as they were incapable of exoatmospheric flight.

Toners were known as such due to the varying hums that their agrav nacelles produced while in operation. When at full power, their pitch was high enough to necessitate crews operating in the area to use hearing protection, and the vehicles could be heard from miles off while approaching. The vehicle was originally only armed with one heavy machine gun slung under the cockpit, but was eventually complimented with side-mounted rocket pods, door guns and even bomb racks.

Toner pilots were some of the most skilled in the entire military, as they'd need to undergo intensive training as well as physical augmentation to control the craft efficiently. The numerous camera pods mounted around the vehicle allowed he and the Toner's commander to see the entire battlefield and their surroundings in real time, but only the pilot could see through all of them at once. Hundreds of implants were installed throughout his brain, allowing him to directly interface with the ship, controlling the twelve ton vehicle with a surprising level of agility and speed. Pilots of these ships were often referred to as Tone-Heads, due to their permanently bald scalps, dotted with alignment tattoos from their earlier implant procedures.

Toners were used on nearly every occupied planet throughout the Imperial Systems, and were used extensively by the Cave-Grove Alliance and Kingdom after the War. They were used as mobile medical centers, command vehicles and reconnaissance units, and could be fielded on any world with an adequate gravitational field. After the War, Alani Aeronautics developed a civilian model of the craft, with an increased cargo capacity due to its lack of armor.

This Toner is dressed up in the Earthain Imperial colors of the Terran Defense Force, with the South American Standard emblazoned in a number of locations on it. I'll be finishing this model over the next few days, with a full interior mocked up, probably accompanied by a drawing of its crew.
