Crimson Forest Venrock

The Crimson Forrest was the site of one of the first Venrock/Vulpesant engagements of the Great War, and remained one of the most contested arenas till it's close. The blood red leaves of the foliage of the area give the forest it's name, even the soil is stained red from countless years of pigmentation leakage. It was a terrifying place to do battle, as your eyes adjusted to the red surrounding you, you couldn't tell blood from soil or leaves.

Due to it's position, being situated on a strategic land-bridge connecting two continents, the area was heavily contested, and held by both sides for some time of the war. The Venrocks claimed it immediately at the opening of the war, slaughtering the Vulpesant garrison at the border checkpoints there, and securing the Crimson Canal, a twenty mile long canal slicing clean through the bridge and forest. Vulpesant marines were dispatched to reclaim the canal and surrounding area, and were successful in destroying a key dam, causing the center section of the canal to drain, rendering it useless for the movement of ships or transportation of goods. Unfortunately for them, the Venrock heavy cruiser Galgos was moving through the locks at the time of the attack, and the ship settled gently to the now exposed floor of the center lake, turning it into a nearly indestructible fortification, securing the canal for the Venrocks for nearly the rest of the war.

The Galgos would later come under attack and be destroyed by an amphibious Vulpesant battleship two years before the close of the war, returning the area to Vulpesant control, and literally turning the tide of the naval war in favor of the Vulpesants.
