Antarctican Fleet WIP

The Antarctican Fleet was the first organized Imperial fleet dispatched from Sol to begin exploring and colonizing local systems. Comprised of the massive Fleet Carrier Antarctica INV SCC 001 (Imperial Naval Vessel Super Capital Class) and it's complement of 24 capital ships, it was designed to be able to handle any threat it encountered.The Antarctica (7.5 km long) carried with it:
Two Madagascar Class Battleships (3.1 km long)
Two Mindanao Class Carriers (1.3 km long)
Four Molokaʻi Class Cruisers (2.6 km long)
Four Berkner Class Destroyers (1.5 km long)
Twelve Panay Class Gunboats (.8 km long)

(Super Capital Class ships are named after continents, while smaller capital ships are named after islands.)

Due to the immense amount of power required to disassimilate mass from something the size of an entire fleet of ships, the fleet-carrier concept was proposed. The idea is relatively simple, build a ship large enough for an entire fleet to fit inside of. Those ships would in turn, dump power from their reactors into the carrier's power grid, and help energize the disassimilation arrays. A fleet carrier could also provide effective protection from virtually any imaginable threat (at the time) and could act as a mobile base and repair facility for an entire fleet.

All of the ships pictured here with the exception of the smaller carrier feature forward facing main weapons arrays. They can also phase their sheilds into weaponized plasma and heavy-ion beams for 360 degree coverage of an area. The forward array is the primary long-distance antiship weapon and could be used against targets on a planets surface as well as in space. Fleet carriers carried the largest caliber forward array, and destroyers carried a pair of such weapons for raking targets and delivering follow-up blows after knocking out shields with the first blast. Gunships carried specialized high-accuracy arrays, capable of targeting the bridge of an enemy ship from several thousand miles away.

All ships also featured bays for receiving other vessels, although some were more extensive than others. Battleships could accommodate gunships and destroyers within their bay, for repair, shuttling and refitting. Most vessels carried several wings of fighters, bombers and shuttles within their bays, or were refitted as heavy bombers and missile platforms.

Another feature of all Earthain ships were jetisonable command pods, which would act as lifeboats in the case of catastrophic failure of the ships systems. These housed the ships bridge and crew quarters, along with a small reactor and engines to propel itself out of danger. Super capital class ships were equipped with two command pods due to their size, as crew may have minutes or less to evacuate the ship depending on the threat confronting them.

The Antarctica was deployed one hundred and ten years after the end of the First Psychic War. It was the flagship of the Earthain fleet, and Grand Executor Casdin's personal ship. It was in orbit over Earth during the climax of the Second Psychic war, and being such a large target and still a potent threat, received a massive amount of damage from Cave Grove war rockets and Felorian battle platforms. After the war, she was repaired and pressed into service shuttling colonists out of the inner systems to worlds on the outskirts of Human Holdings, but returned to active combat duty to fight the Chorus some forty years later. Midway through the human-Chorus war, she was forcefully de-orbited over the colony of Deitol by a Chorus gravity slug. She crashed-landed mostly intact on the outskirts of the planets capital city and remained there till the end of the war, serving as a shelter for the besieged citizens of the planet.
